Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to the Jant Android application (package co.vdmerwe.jant), published on Google Play.

The short version

Jant does not collect, store, or share any personal data. There are no ads, no analytics, no tracking, and no user accounts. Everything the app produces stays on your device.

Data collection

Jant collects no data. The app has no server of its own: nothing you do in the app is transmitted to us, and we hold no information about you or your device.

Network queries you initiate

Jant is a network diagnostics tool. When you run a tool, the app sends the queries you asked for directly to the destination you chose — for example:

• Ping, traceroute, and port checks connect to the host you enter.
• DNS lookups are sent to the resolver you select.
• Whois, RDAP, and ASN lookups query the relevant public registries.

These services receive your device's IP address as part of any normal internet request, and are operated by third parties under their own policies. Jant adds no identifying information to these queries and does not log them anywhere except on your device.

Location permission and WiFi scanning

Android requires the precise location permission (and location services to be enabled) for any app that scans for nearby WiFi networks. Jant requests this permission solely so the WiFi Analyzer and WiFi Heatmap tools can read nearby network information (SSIDs, signal strength, channels).

• Jant does not access GPS or compute your geographic position.
• WiFi scan results are processed on your device only and are never transmitted.
• The permission is used only while you are using the app (foreground).

Floor plans and survey data

Floor-plan images you import for the heatmap, and the surveys you record, are stored locally on your device. They never leave it, and they are deleted when you clear the app's data or uninstall it.

Children

Jant is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes (for example, if a future version adds optional paid features), the updated version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
